Quick Styling Routine

I used to straighten my 3A curls on busy mornings because it felt faster than my elaborate curl routine. This quick combo is actually faster than heat styling once you account for the straightener's heat-up time, and it doesn't damage my hair the way frequent straightening does. I haven't reached for the straightener since switching to this routine.

Once the gel cast is dry, scrunching it out with my palms takes maybe five minutes. Combined with the initial application of leave-in and gel which takes another ten, my entire quick styling routine from wet hair to finished curls is about fifteen minutes of active time, with drying happening while I do other things. Genuinely quick for the results.

My 3C curls are on the coarser side and this combo suits them well — the leave-in gives enough slip and moisture for my texture and the gel's strong hold carries the weight of my coarser strands without collapsing. Together they give me defined, held curls without needing a heavier moisture milk as a base. Efficient for coarse hair too.

Weekday mornings mean no time for elaborate styling. This two-step combo is fast enough for a workday and good enough that my 3A curls look intentional, not rushed. Leave-in first for the moisture foundation, gel over it for hold that lasts the whole workday. I'm out the door in under twenty minutes with curls I'm proud of.
