The Ashba Strengthening Hair Mask is a deep repair treatment for curly, wavy, and damaged hair — a weekly intensive that rebuilds strength, restores moisture, and revives curls worn down by heat, hard water, color, and years of harsh products. As a hair mask for curly hair built around a 5-in-1 baobab super protein, rice protein and wheat protein, it works deeper than an everyday conditioner to repair damage from the inside.

This is the treatment Asha recommends when curls feel dry, rough, brittle, or over-processed. Where the Nourishing Conditioner is your everyday moisture step, the Strengthening Hair Mask is the weekly deep conditioning hair mask that does the heavy repair — strengthening the hair shaft, smoothing the cuticle, and bringing damaged curls back to life. Used as a weekly deep conditioner for curly hair, this silicone-free, protein-rich curly hair mask is safe on color-treated, keratin-treated, and chemically processed hair.

Who's it for

Best For

  • Dry, damaged, or over-processed curly hair that needs deep repair
  • A weekly hair mask for curly hair, hair treatment mask, and deep conditioner for curls worn down between washes
  • Frizzy curly hair treatment seekers — a treatment for frizzy curly hair, not just daily conditioning
  • A protein treatment for curly hair: colour-treated, keratin-treated, bleached, or chemically straightened
  • Curlies dealing with breakage, split ends, dry curly hair, or curly hair fall from damage
  • Coarse and thick curls that drink up moisture faster than a conditioner can give

By Curl Pattern

  • Coily hair (4A to 4C) — the thirstiest, most fragile textures that benefit most from weekly deep treatment
  • Curly hair (3A to 3C) — repairs and strengthens defined curls damaged by heat or colour
  • Wavy hair (2A to 2C) — a gentler hair treatment for wavy hair; use on mid-lengths and ends, less often than curls need

By Hair Density

  • Coarse to medium strands — the ideal match; can absorb the rich, protein-heavy treatment fully
  • Fine strands — use sparingly and less often; too-frequent protein treatment can stiffen fine hair

By Gender

  • A curly hair treatment men, women, and all genders can use — formulated for hair condition and curl pattern, not gender
What it does
  • Powered by clean active ingredients — murumuru butter penetrates the cuticle to strengthen and discipline hair from the inside (a natural alternative to silicone); hydrolyzed baobab is a 5-in-1 super protein along with wheat protein repairs damage; sweet almond oil softens, smooths, and reduces breakage; rice protein adds strength and volume
  • Repairs and strengthens damaged hair — rebuilds strength in hair worn down by heat, colour, and chemical processing
  • Deep weekly conditioning — works deeper than an everyday conditioner to restore moisture lost between washes
  • Reduces breakage and split ends — strengthens the hair shaft to cut down on snapping, splitting, and curly hair fall from damage
  • A protein hair mask for curly and wavy hair — among curly hair treatment products, it doubles as a wavy hair treatment for damaged waves; one of the more complete deep-repair options for textured hair
  • Controls frizz and smooths the cuticle — leaves curls softer, shinier, and more defined
  • Silicone-free and CGM-friendly — deep repair without silicones, parabens, mineral oils, or waxes; no buildup over time
How to use
  1. Use once a week (every 10–14 days for fine hair) in place of your regular conditioner.
  2. After shampooing with Ashba Hydrating Shampoo, squeeze excess water from your hair. Use Ashba Clarifying shampoo for the deep cleanse and remove build up.
  3. Apply generously through the mid-lengths and ends, where damage is worst. Avoid the scalp.
  4. Detangle gently with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb while the mask is in.
  5. Leave on for 5–15 minutes. For very dry or damaged hair, cover with a shower cap and leave longer, or use mild heat to help it absorb.
  6. Rinse thoroughly with cool or lukewarm water.
  7. Follow with Ashba Leave-In Conditioner on soaking wet hair, then your styler.

What is the best hair mask for curly hair in India?

The best hair mask for curly hair in India is silicone-free, protein-rich, and used as a weekly deep treatment rather than a daily product. The Ashba Strengthening Hair Mask uses a 5-in-1 baobab super protein, murumuru butter, and sweet almond oil to repair damage and strengthen curls worn down by heat, colour, and hard water — making it a strong pick for anyone searching for the best hair treatment for curly hair. As a hair treatment for curly hair, use it once a week in place of your regular conditioner.

    Show all FAQs

What's the difference between the Strengthening Hair Mask and the Nourishing Conditioner?

The Nourishing Conditioner is your everyday rinse-out conditioner — daily moisture and detangling on every wash day. The Strengthening Hair Mask is a weekly deep treatment with a higher concentration of proteins and butters for intensive repair of dry, damaged, or over-processed hair. Use the conditioner regularly; swap in the mask once a week (or when curls feel especially dry, brittle, or damaged).

How often should I use a hair mask on curly hair?

Most curly and coily hair benefits from a deep treatment once a week. Coarse, very dry, or damaged hair can use it more often; fine hair should use it every 10–14 days to avoid protein buildup, which can make fine strands feel stiff. Use it in place of your regular conditioner on treatment days, not in addition to it.

Is the Strengthening Hair Mask a protein treatment, and can it cause protein overload?

Yes, it's a protein-rich treatment built around a 5-in-1 hydrolyzed baobab super protein and rice protein, which strengthen and repair the hair shaft. Protein overload is rare with correct use, but possible if you over-apply on fine or low-porosity hair. Stick to once a week (less for fine hair), and if curls ever feel stiff or straw-like, space treatments further apart and focus on moisture in between.

Is the mask good for dry, damaged, or colour-treated curly hair?

Yes — this is exactly what it's built for. As a deep treatment for dry, damaged, and frizzy curly hair, it repairs and strengthens hair worn down by heat, hard water, and styling. The silicone-free formula is safe for colour-treated, keratin-treated, bleached, and chemically straightened hair, helping repair the damage these processes cause without stripping colour.

Can the mask repair split ends and reduce breakage?

It can't permanently seal a split end — nothing but a trim does that — but it strengthens the hair shaft and smooths the cuticle to reduce further breakage and split ends, and temporarily improves the look and feel of damaged ends. Regular weekly use builds resilience over time, cutting down on the breakage and curly hair fall that come from dryness and damage.

How do I use the Strengthening Hair Mask?

Use once a week in place of your conditioner. After shampooing, squeeze out excess water, then apply generously to the mid-lengths and ends (avoid the scalp). Detangle gently while it's in, leave for 5–15 minutes — longer with a shower cap or mild heat for very damaged hair — then rinse with cool water. Follow with leave-in conditioner and your styler.

Can I use the mask as a deep conditioner or leave it in?

Yes as a deep conditioner — that's its primary use, as a weekly rinse-out deep conditioning treatment. Don't leave it in fully, though; it's a concentrated, protein-rich treatment meant to be rinsed after 5–15 minutes. For a product that stays in your hair through styling, use the Ashba Leave-In Conditioner instead.

Is the mask good for wavy hair, or only curly?

It works as a hair treatment for wavy hair too, but waves need it less often than curls — every 2–3 weeks is usually enough, applied only to the mid-lengths and ends. Wavy hair is finer and more easily weighed down, so use a small amount and rinse thoroughly. If your waves feel stiff after, space treatments further apart.

Will the mask weigh down or make fine hair greasy?

It can if over-used on fine hair. The mask is rich and protein-heavy, designed for coarse, dry, or damaged textures. Fine-haired curlies should use a small amount on the ends only, every 10–14 days, and rinse very thoroughly. If your fine hair feels heavy or stiff, you're using too much or too often — cut back the frequency.

Can men use the Strengthening Hair Mask for curly hair?

Yes. It works as a curly hair treatment for men with curly or coily hair — gender-neutral and formulated for hair condition, not gender. Men with dry, damaged, or coarse curls benefit from a weekly deep treatment just as much. For shorter hair, use a small amount worked through the lengths and rinse after a few minutes.

Can I use the mask alongside keratin, colour, or chemical treatments?

Yes. The silicone-free, sulphate-free formula is safe for chemically treated hair and actively helps repair the damage that colour, bleach, keratin, and relaxers cause. Use it weekly to keep processed hair strong and moisturized. After a fresh colour or chemical service, wait until your stylist's recommended wash window, then resume weekly masking to support recovery.
