The Ashba Curl Volumizing Foam is a lightweight hair foam for curly hair that adds volume, lift, and soft definition to fine and wavy textures — without weighing them down. As a modern hair mousse for curly hair built without aerosol gases or propellants, it gives you the volume and slip of a traditional mousse with a cleaner, water-based formula that's better for hair and the planet.
This is the styler Asha reaches for when fine curls fall flat or waves need a lift at the roots. Where heavier gels and custards weigh fine hair down, the Curl Volumizing Foam adds airy volume and soft hold while corn starch and rice protein give curls definition and bounce. It's the foam (and mousse) for curlies who want fullness, lift, and movement — not stiffness or crunch.
Who's it for

- Wavy hair (2A to 2C) seeking definition and volume without losing wave pattern
- Curlies who find gels and custards too heavy and want a softer, lighter finish
By Curl Pattern

- Coily hair (4A to 4C) — works as a volumizing layer under a stronger styler like the Curl Defining Gel
By Hair Density
- Fine strands — the best match; the lightweight foam adds volume where heavier products would weigh curls flat
- Medium strands — soft hold and natural lift for everyday wear
- Coarse strands — usually needs more hold; try the Flaxseed Curling Custard or Curl Defining Gel instead
By Gender
- A volumizing foam men, women, and all genders can use — formulated for hair texture and volume, not gender

- Powered by clean active ingredients — babassu oil seals in moisture and softens without greasiness; corn starch delivers light hold, frizz control, and excellent curl retention; rice protein lifts hair fibres for volume, bounce, and shine; aloe vera hydrates and adds shine to dull hair
- Soft, light hold — defines curls naturally without the stiffness of a strong-hold gel
- Mousse without aerosol gases — water-based formula gives the slip and volume of a traditional hair mousse for curly hair, without propellants or harsh ingredients; among the best curling mousse for curly hair options that skip the aerosol can
- Controls frizz with curl retention — smooths the cuticle and holds curl pattern through the day
- Silicone-free and CGM-friendly — no silicones, parabens, mineral oils, or drying alcohols; no buildup
How to use
- Shake the bottle well before each use.
- Start on soaking wet hair, after applying Ashba Leave-In Conditioner. If you have very fine hair and low density hair then skip the leave-in.
- Dispense a small amount of foam into your palm — start with a golf-ball size for shoulder-length hair, less for shorter or finer hair.
- Tip your head upside down to bring all volume to the roots, then scrunch the foam upward into your hair, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends.
- Flip your head back, smooth the foam through with praying hands, and scrunch again to encourage curl clumps.
- Air dry or diffuse on low heat with your head tipped to one side for maximum root lift.
- For more hold on a humid day, layer a little Curl Defining Gel over the foam.

What is the best mousse for curly hair in India?
The best mousse for curly hair in India is lightweight, silicone-free, and adds volume without weighing curls down. The Ashba Curl Volumizing Foam is a curling mousse for curly hair built without aerosol gases — a cleaner alternative to traditional drugstore mousses, with babassu oil, corn starch, and rice protein for volume, soft hold, and frizz control. Ideal for fine to medium curls and waves that need lift.
Show all FAQs
Is the Curl Volumizing Foam the same as a hair mousse?
Functionally yes — a foam and a mousse do the same job on curly hair: add volume, soft hold, and definition. The difference is the delivery. A traditional hair mousse comes in an aerosol can pressurised with propellants, while the Ashba Curl Volumizing Foam is a water-based, propellant-free foam dispensed from a pump bottle. You get the volume, lift, and slip of a mousse with a cleaner, more eco-friendly formula.
Is this a hair foam for curly hair, or for all hair types?
It's specifically formulated as a hair foam for curly hair, wavy hair, and fine curls — though it works for any texture that wants soft volume and light hold. The lightweight, water-based formula is built to lift fine and limp curls without weighing them down, and to define waves without flattening them. Coarse or thick curls usually need more hold than a foam can give — try the Flaxseed Curling Custard or Curl Defining Gel instead.
Does the Curl Volumizing Foam actually add volume to fine curly hair?
Yes — this is exactly what it's built for. Rice protein in the formula lifts the hair fibre to add volume and bounce, while the lightweight foam delivery means it adds fullness at the roots without the weight that flattens fine hair. For maximum volume, scrunch the foam in with your head tipped upside down and diffuse with your head tipped to the side.
Will the foam hold curls all day?
It gives a soft, light hold that holds curl pattern through the day in normal weather. It's not a strong-hold styler — that's by design, so fine and wavy hair don't get stiff or weighed down. For all-day strong hold (especially in monsoon or coastal humidity), layer the Ashba Curl Defining Gel over the foam, or use the gel on its own for medium to coarse curls.
How do I use Curl Volumizing Foam on curly hair?
Shake the bottle, dispense a golf-ball-sized amount into your palm (less for short or fine hair), and apply to soaking wet hair after your leave-in. Tip your head upside down and scrunch the foam up into the mid-lengths and ends to lift curls at the root. Flip your head back, smooth through, scrunch again, then air dry or diffuse on low heat with your head tipped to one side for maximum volume.
What's the difference between the Curl Volumizing Foam, Hydrating Curl Styling Gel, and Curl Defining Gel?
They each do a different job. The Curl Volumizing Foam adds volume, lift, and soft hold — best for fine hair and waves that need fullness. The Hydrating Curl Styling Gel gives soft, hydrating definition with 1% hyaluronic acid — best for fine to medium curls wanting smooth, defined curls. The Curl Defining Gel gives strong, humidity-proof hold — best for medium-to-coarse curls and monsoon weather. Volume → soft definition → strong hold.
Can I use the Curl Volumizing Foam on wavy hair?
Yes — it's one of the best stylers for wavy hair (2A to 2C). Waves are easily weighed down by heavier gels and custards; the lightweight foam enhances wave pattern, adds volume at the roots, and prevents the limp, flat look waves often get with the wrong product. Apply to soaking wet waves, scrunch upward, and air dry for the most natural finish.
Will the foam leave my hair sticky, crunchy, or flaky?
No. Unlike many aerosol mousses that contain alcohols and harsh polymers, the Ashba Curl Volumizing Foam is silicone-free, alcohol-free, and built with corn starch and plant-based ingredients. The hold is soft, the finish is touchable, and there's no white flake or stickiness when used correctly. If you ever see flaking, you're applying too much — start with a smaller amount.
Is the foam safe for colour-treated, fine, or fragile hair?
Yes to all three. The silicone-free, sulphate-free formula is gentle on colour-treated, keratin-treated, and chemically processed hair. It's specifically designed for fine and fragile textures that struggle with heavier stylers — making it one of the best curly hair products for fine hair. For very damaged hair, pair with the Strengthening Hair Mask weekly for repair.
Can men use Curl Volumizing Foam for curly hair?
Yes. It works as a styling foam for men with curly, wavy, or fine hair — gender-neutral and formulated for hair texture, not gender. Men with fine, limp, or volume-starved curls get the same lift and soft definition. For shorter hair, use less foam (a small dollop) and work it through with your fingers.
Can I layer the Curl Volumizing Foam with other Ashba stylers?
Yes. Apply Ashba Leave-In Conditioner first for moisture, then the foam for volume and soft hold. For more hold, layer a little Curl Defining Gel or Flaxseed Curling Custard over the foam. Always layer wettest and lightest first, finishing with the styler that provides the most hold — foam at the bottom, gel or custard on top.

"Being curly-haired myself, I knew the struggle that one has to face every day. After years of work, we are proud to present the first ever curly hair care brand of India!" - Asha Barrak, Founder
Foam products can often be overpriced for what they deliver, but this one justifies its price with genuinely impressive results. A small dollop covers my medium-length hair generously and the volume I get is worth every rupee. My curls have incredible bounce and lift that used to take expensive salon products to achieve. Very happy with this purchase and will definitely repurchase.
I was not sure if this foam was right for my 2a wavy hair but I am so glad I tried it. Waves can sometimes look undefined and flat, and this foam gives them such lovely texture and volume. My waves look intentional and beautiful now, not like slightly frizzy straight hair. It is the product that finally helped me embrace my natural wave pattern. Love it!
My biggest curl struggle has always been flat, lifeless roots. No matter what I tried, my roots would flatten within hours of styling. This foam is the only product I have found that gives my roots lasting lift. Applied with a diffuser and with some root clipping while drying, my roots stay voluminous all day. After months of searching, I have finally found my root volume solution.
People assume I have thick hair now, but it is all this foam. My 2c to 3a fine curls look full, volumised, and beautifully defined. The foam coats each strand and lifts from the root, creating the illusion of much more hair than I actually have. My hairdresser was genuinely surprised and asked what I had been doing. All credit to the Ashba Curl Volumizing Foam!
I use this foam first and then scrunch a small amount of the Curl Defining Gel over the top and the combination gives me the most incredible curls. The foam provides volume and lift while the gel locks in definition. Together they create a look I could never achieve with either product alone. If you own the gel, definitely try adding the foam to your routine.
